Interview is one of steps in the employee recruitment process. Job interview is a type of stage in employee selection that involves conversations between applicants / job seekers and representatives of employing organizations to see whether the prospective employee is the right candidate or not.
At present, many methods or techniques are applied to conduct interviews, including:

  • Direct face-to-face interviews, where recruiters with applicants in one room communicate directly. In this face-to-face interview, recruiters can see directly job seekers appearance.
  • Telephone interview, in order to save costs and time efficiency, many recruiters conduct job interviews by telephone. Therefore, applicants must be ready to be contacted at any time, because often the recruiter does not provide an option for applicants to determine whether they are ready or not to be interviewed.
  • Skype interview / video call. Interview via Skype media or video calls. For this process, the recruiter notifies the applicant of the schedule of the previous interview.

For telephone interviews and Skype / video calls, the recruiter cannot directly see the physical appearance of the applicant, the recruiter assesses the applicant’s physical appearance from the photo and other information included in the CV, therefore CV plays a very important role considering the CV is a reference to yourself. An attractive CV will make it easier for the recruiter to decide to follow up on your CV. Invitations for interviews are the results that you expect from the delivery process of CV. What are the factors considered by the HR / recruiter to decide to invite you to interview? The following are the important points that you must include in the CV:

    1. Full name. Enter your full name. Name in CV that will be used continuously in each recruitment / HR recruitment document.
    2. Applied position. If you do not make a cover letter and only send a CV, state the position you are applying for in the CV.
    3. Your photos, choose your latest photos. Official photos specific for job applications. Pay attention to clothes, hairdo, poses and background of the photo. Wear formal work clothes, complete suits or shirts / blouses / blazers. Neat hairstyle. Have to keep smiling. Official pose, hands on the left and right of the body. Photo backgrounds are generally white unless recruiter asks specific request. Includes 2 types of photos. Face photos (passport photo / pass photo size) and whole body / photo photos of the whole body. This whole body photo is very important because with this photo the recruiter can see your physical appearance. And if the interview is not done through face-to-face interviews, this photo will make a major contribution to the recruiter’s decision-making process in terms of assessing your physical appearance. For ‘guest contact’ position, appearance is very important. If you only include face photos, for a Skype / telephone interview, the recruiter will usually ask your full-body photos before the interview is held. It will be easier and faster for recruiters if the CV has included two types of photos. You will be contacted faster by the recruiter. Therefore don’t underestimate this photo.
    4. Your personal data, such as place of birth date, nationality, marital status.
    5. Your current address. For face-to-face interviews, your current address is an important factor because the recruiter thinks if your current address is far enough from where the interview will take place, there would be a chances that you will not attend, especially if you are abroad. Because of this recruiter will not give you interview invitation.
    6. Phone numbers, email addresses, contact messengers (WA / BBM, Skype ID and others). Include your home phone number, cellphone, email account, message contact number like WhatsApp / BBM / Skype ID and others that will make it easier for the recruiter to contact you. For message contact, make your profile id with your best photo, include your name. This will make it easier for the recruiter to recognize and remember you.
    7. Height and weight information. For job position which nature are guest contract / meet with guests / clients . Appearance will be very important. Some companies have a certain standard of height for certain positions, therefore this information is very important. Always include in your CV.

    9. Educational background. List only your last education, detailed starting from the education period (the year of entry until the year of graduation), educational institution name, city or address of the institution, major taken and the degree obtained. Listing majors taken is very important because this will support / show your skills and knowledge to support the position that you applied. If your education is Diploma 1 and you think you need to enter your high school education, include it in detail.
    10. Non-formal education background such as courses, training and seminars that you have attended, especially those relating to or supporting the position you are applying for. Specify, the date / month / year of the course / training / seminar taken, institution name and the city where the institution is located / training is conducted, the name of the qualification / material / skills taken.
    11. Skills mastered. If certified, include it as an additional description of the skill. Examples of mastering English, certified, etc.
    12. Hobbies, don’t be mistaken, in many cases, hobbies are taken into consideration by HRD to recruit you because they are considered to support your work. So don’t hesitate to include your hobby in CV.
